1973 Valiant Charger R/T E49 Edition
Chrysler Australia debuted the Valiant Charger in 1971 as a two-door hard-top coupe. Based on Chrysler’s A-body platform the Valiant Charger moved to a leaner and meaner in-line 6 for their muscle cars as its main competitors GM’s Holden & Ford of Australia went towards the heavier V8 engine.
The Valiant Charger was well-received and won Australian Wheel’s 1971 Car of the Year. The 1973 R/T E49 is the highest performance version with an incredible amount of torque producing 325 lbs ft @ 4,100 RPM. It took the title of fastest-accelerating production car and held it for 27 years.
